PASTORAL SERVICES: Protecting God's Children Workshop

It’s Everyone’s Responsibility to Protect God’s Children

St. Blase, along with all other churches in the Archdiocese of Detroit, is committed to providing safe environments for children and youth.  All persons who work with children or other vulnerable persons are required to have a criminal background check and participate in a Protecting God's Children​ workshop. 



Reporting Child Abuse

If you believe child is being abused, or is in danger of abuse, please contact the police or Child Protective Services at 855-444-3911.
If the situation involves a member of the clergy, parish or school staff or a volunteer, please also contact the Archdiocese at 866-343-5055. More information can be found on the Archdiocesan Website.

Registering ​for a Protecting God's Children" workshop

This workshop is free, supported by our Catholic Services Appeal. To register go to the website of the Archdiocese of Detroit www.aod.org  and follow the links from the homepage called "Protecting God's Children"

 In accordance with the Archdiocese, it is mandatory that all persons that minister with children or vulnerable adults:

*Complete a “Criminal History Background Check Form” 

*Receive a “Code of Pastoral Conduct for Priests, Deacons, Pastoral Ministers, Administrators, Staff and Volunteers ”

*Participate in a “Protecting God’s Children Workshop”
 (Office will require you to bring in a copy of your certificate if you’ve attended offsite.)

Human Trafficking

Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery. This crime occurs when a trafficker uses force, fraud or coercion to control another person for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex acts or soliciting labor or services against his/her will.
It happens to girls and boys, women and men.
