"Praise be to...the Father of compassion and the
God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort
those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God."

Tribunal Beginning Experience Weeknds for Widowed,
Divorced or Separated Bethany: Support for Separated
or Divorced Annulments
If you have experienced the pain of divorce, when you feel it is time, we invite
to consider the process of applying for an annulment. An annulment is a declaration
by the church court which states that a marriage was never sacramentally binding
according to church law. A declaration of nullity does not mean a marriage ceremony
never existed, but rather that this union did not exhibit those qualities of a
true sacramental life. This procedure has no effect on the status of your children.
If you have questions or wish to discuss this further, please contact either
Fr. Randy Phillips our pastor, or Mary Dumm, our Pastoral Associate at (586) 268-2244.

Each year, millions of Catholics suffer the pain and hurt of divorce.
Many feel separated and alienated from the Church and their parish community because
of the experience. The annulment process brings these Catholics back into the
sacramental life of the Church. | Each year,
the Metropolitan Tribunal of the Archdiocese of Detroit receives 1,500
formal annulment requests. Processing such requests accounts for an major part
of the Tribunal;'s duties. The Metropolitan Tribunal reaches out to those
in need through presentations by its judges at various archdiocesan parishes throughout
the year. Catholic Services Appeal dollars help the Tribunal staff offer
guidance and hope to divorced Catholics seeking annulments. For information
on the Metropolitan Tribunal, call (313) 237-5865. |
