FAITH FORMATION: Home

Last revised: November 4, 2011 10:05 AM

Faith Formation is a lifelong process. From womb to tomb we are called into a deeper relationship with our God who first loved us. At Saint Blase, we have many diverse opportunities to assist us in this growth process, for adults, teens, children seniors, singles, families...indeed for the whole community.

All ministries with children require a Protecting God's Children Workshop and criminal background check.

Catechist Opportunities
Catechists facilitate and/or lead faith formation sessions using age-appropriate material provided. Catechists should be comfortable in large and small group settings and have a love of children, a good sense of humor, a willingness to share their faith and an openness to further their own personal faith growth. There are several different areas of need, each with different responsibilities and commitments. Contact: Alice Doppel through the Parish Office at (586) 268-2244. More

Youth Ministry (Grades 9-12)
Our Teen Ministry, U.N.I.T.Y., is where the teens of our church go on their Sunday afternoons so they can be with people their own age and find a better understanding of faith. Youth Ministry is for teens in 9th-12th grade (yes, this includes all incoming freshmen!). Joining in 9th grade is a good idea because it is actually a part of your confirmation process. Contact Joe Wilseck through the Parish Office at (586) 268-2244. More

Vacation Bible School (Summer Circle)
Summer Circle is a one-of-a-kind week-long faith formation experience scheduled each June. Over one hundred teens and adults are needed to minister in these various areas: craft, drama, baby-sitting, crew leaders, kitchen, music, games, decorating, photography, setup and clean up. Specific assignments are solicited in March and April. Watch the bulletin for specifics in early spring. Contact Barb Ziarko through the Parish Office at (586) 268-2244. More

Justice and Peace Committee
The Committee consists of a group of concerned parishioners that meet to explore the realities of violence and injustice in our world and discuss possible responses in the light of Catholic social teaching, individually and collectively, to these realities. The Committee also provides parishioners with information concerning opportunities for involvement in advocacy for non-violence and societal structural changes that address peace and justice issues locally, and throughout the world. Contact Andrea Byrne through the Parish Office at (586) 268-2244. More

RCIA Program
If you are unbaptized or have been baptized in another Christian tradition we would like to invite you to make a difference in your life by exploring the journey toward becoming a Catholic. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) process welcomes anyone who has a desire to know more about the Catholic Church. Invite someone to come and find out who we are and what we're all about! Contact Joe Wilseck at the Parish Office, (586) 268-2244. More
