Faith Formation Overview
Faith Formation is a lifelong process. From womb to tomb we are
called into a deeper relationship with our God who first loved us.
At Saint Blase, we have many diverse opportunities to assist us
in this growth process, for adults, teens, children seniors, singles,
families...indeed for the whole community.

Education
Commission
The Education Commission helps
all parishioners understand that the entire parish community has responsibility
for promoting the teaching ministry of the Church. The Commission has
the responsibility of developing, promoting, and evaluating the various
programs in and opportunities for faith formation in the parish. Meetings
are generally held on the third Monday of the month. Contact: Paul

Adult Faith Formation
Committee
The committee plans and carries out programs to challenge adults
to continue their learning and growth in faith. Meetings are scheduled
as needed and are held on Monday evenings 5-6 times throughout the year.

Justice and Peace Committee
The Committee consists of a group of concerned parishioners that meet
to explore the realities of violence and injustice in our world and
discuss possible responses in the light of Catholic social teaching,
individually and collectively, to these realities. The Committee also
provides parishioners with information concerning opportunities for
involvement in advocacy for non-violence and societal structural changes
that address peace and justice issues locally, and throughout the world.

Catechetics & Catholic
Schools Committee
Catechetics is responsible for planning future parish catechetical needs.
The Catholic Schools Committee promotes interest in Catholic schools,
proposes policy for tuition support for Catholic school students and
continuing education for Catholic schoolteachers. Meetings are scheduled

Family Life Committee
The Family Life Committee recognizes the complexity of family
life and advocates to strengthen and support all families.This committee
convenes to deal with special projects of the Education Commission and

Teen Ministry
Our Teen Ministry, U.N.I.T.Y., is where the teens of our church go on
Sunday afternoons so they can be with people their own age and find
a better understanding of our faith. U.N.I.T.Y is for teens in 9th-12th
grade (yes, this includes all incoming freshmen!). Joining U.N.I.T.Y
in 9th grade is a good idea because it is actually a part of your confirmation

Religious
Formation Classes
Catechists facilitate and/or lead faith formation sessions using age-appropriate
material provided for the following age groups: Early Childhood (Ages
3, 4 & 5/or K Year Olds),  Family Faith Formation (Grades 1-5),
Young Adolescents (Grades 6-8), and Teen Ministry (Grades 9-12) as well
as the Sacraments of First Eucharist, First Reconciliation, and Confirmation.

Catechist
Opportunities
Catechists facilitate and/or lead faith formation sessions using age-appropriate
material provided. Catechists should be comfortable in large and small
group settings and have a love of children, a good sense of humor, a willingness
to share their faith and an openness to further their own personal faith
growth. There are several different areas of need, each with different
responsibilities and commitments. more...
RCIA Program
If you are unbaptized or have been baptized in another Christian tradition
we would like to invite you to make a difference in your life by exploring
the journey toward becoming a Catholic. The Rite of Christian Initiation
of Adults (RCIA) process welcomes anyone who has a desire to know more
about the Catholic Church. Invite someone to come and find out who we

Summer
Circle
Summer Circle is a one-of-a-kind week-long
faith formation experience scheduled each June. Over two hundred teens
and adults are needed to minister in these various areas: craft, drama,
baby-sitting, crew leaders, kitchen, music, games, decorating, photography,
setup and clean up. Specific assignments are solicited in March and April.

Marriage Preparation Team
The Marriage Preparation Team assists engaged couples as they prepare
for their life together. Preparation is currently offered four times a
year and consists of four weekly sessions on Monday evenings in October,
January, April and June that are facilitated by team members. Contact

Returning Catholics Team Member
Returning Catholics Team Members are active Catholics who facilitate conversations
with those who have been away from the Church and are interested in returning

Parish Library
The parish library is just one of the wonderful resources that
St. Blase offers its parishioners as they continue their journey
of faith. Books on Christianity, Catholicism and Spirituality, just
to name a few, are available to help guide you as your grow into
your relationship with God.
The parish library has many books, periodicals, and videos available
for checkout and use by adults and children. They cover a wide range
of topics, such as:

The library is open weekly during regular office hours, and before
and after all Masses.
- Please leave a phone number when checking out books.
- Books may be checked out for 6 weeks.
Library Aide
The parish library has many books and videos available for checkout
and use by parishioners. The library is open before and after all
weekend Masses and throughout the week during regular parish office
hours. Librarians are needed in the following areas: put away returned
books/videos, straighten library shelves, write short book reviews
for The Flame, and monitor book/video returns, making phone
calls when necessary. The time commitment is approximately 2-3 hours
