Church Organization Chart of Network Groups for the Unemployed Here
is a list of church network groups that can be used by the unemployed to help
with their job search. The church groups are located throughout the Detroit suburbs.
Most groups have speakers who address a job search topic such as resumes, cover
letters or networking - others are only networking. Some popular groups in the
area are St. Andrew Catholic Church and St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church. Please

Service Commission The Christian Service Commission exists as a model
and resource to enable the entire parish community to put the social teaching
of the Church into action. Through educational and formational programs, as well
as hands-on opportunities, the Commission empowers the members of the parish to
fulfill the Church's mission of love, justice, freedom and peace by communally
responding to societal and individual human needs. The Commission generally meets
as needed. Contact the Parish Office at (586) 268-2244. more... Justice
and Peace Committee The Committee consists of a group of concerned
parishioners that meet to explore the realities of violence and injustice in our
world and discuss possible responses in the light of Catholic social teaching,
individually and collectively, to these realities. The Committee also provides
parishioners with information concerning opportunities for involvement in advocacy
for non-violence and societal structural changes that address peace and justice
issues locally, nationally and internationally. Contact Andrea Byrne through
the Parish Office at (586) 268-2244. more... Mission
Projects From time to time, our parish offers outreach services to
various mission projects that have included a sister parish in Haiti and Habitat
for Humanity in our own area. Needs for these projects range from participation
and traveling to the site to providing donations and publicity. Details for each
specific project would be provided at the time of planning. Contact Pat Byrne
through the Parish Office at (586) 268-2244. more...
Cereal Collection St.
Blase sponsors a cereal collection on the second weekend of each month. Volunteers
are needed to sort and deliver the donated cereal to The Macomb Food Bank on Tuesdays
during the day. Daytime availability is a must. Contact Vince Schembri through
the Parish Office at (586) 268-2244. more... Holiday
Baskets Members of the parish donate food and gift baskets for the
Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter holidays. Areas of need include sorting and
organizing the baskets and delivering the items to those in need during the day.
Daytime availability is a must. Contact Vince Schembri through the Parish Office
at (586) 268-2244. more... MCREST
(Macomb County Rotating Emergency Shelter Team) St. Blase participates
in this homeless shelter for one week during the summer months by providing daily
meals, a place to sleep and shower, and transportation to jobs, training programs
and other day sites. The success of the shelter rests on the response from the
parish. Contact Barb Francis through the Parish Office at (586) 268-2244. more... Macomb
County Warming Center (MCWC) MCWC seeks to provide a safe, warm place
to spend the night for those who would otherwise have no shelter. We will provide
a simple but nourishing evening and morning meal. We will refer our guests to
agencies that may be able to assist them further, if they desire. We are a faith
based group who believes that our efforts and spiritual support, guided by the
hand of God, can assist in inspiring positive changes in the outlook of individuals
who face serious challenges that are obstacles to their ability to find housing.
We strive to see Christ in all who come through our doors, and this basis of our
work is visible in our log which we call "Christ in the breadline."
Needs are similar to MCREST, listed above. Contact: Pat Byrne through
the Parish Office at (586) 268-2244. more... Alcoholics
Anonymous (AA) This group meets in the rectory basment meeting
room at 8:00 PM on Monday nights. more...
