Liturgical Seasons: Advent to Christmas

ADVENT at St. Blase

Picture
We are all connected. This Advent, how can we move toward practicing oneness in our faith?
"On that day, a shoot shall sprout from the stump of Jesse, and from his roots a bud shall blossom." Isaiah 11:1
Advent is the season which offers us the opportunity to reflect upon both the time of Christ's return (Second Coming) remember the birth of Christ (First Coming). Advent is a time of expectation, joy and preparation. We must fight for our Advent Season! We can make conscious choices that allow for quiet time for prayer and reflection that will protect us from the mountain of distractions that can rob us from Advent. Can we resist the temptation to dive directly into Christmas? Our hearts need this time of expectation when we can connect more deeply with Christ. Let's find a way to be prepared for Christmas this year without denying ourselves the blessing of Advent!

Sacrament of Reconciliation

Picture
There are the opportunity for private celebrations of the sacrament every Saturday at 3:00 PM. Communal celebrations are scheduled during Advent and Lent. The Sacrament of Reconciliation may also be made by appointment.

Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary (Holy Day of Obligation)

Picture
The Immaculate Conception is a Holy Day of Obligation. There is often confusion surrounding this feast. Often, people think we are celebrating the day Jesus was conceived. (This is the Annunciation) The Immaculate Conception celebrates the day that the Blessed Mother Mary was conceived.
